AJC DESIGN

For this project we were asked to create a mailer brochure with four panels, promoting a sale for a national retailer. Nordstrom is a personal favorite so creating a mailer for them was a fun creative exercise. Before going back to school I primarily used illustrator and photoshop but quickly learned during this InDesign class all the benefits to using the program to design marketing material such as this brochure. When a client comes to me with an idea, a name, a company dream… my heart literally skips a beat. I love to take their business outline and create the visual representation of that vision. I created this branding 7 years ago and it is still a thriving business in central Ohio. The original owner sold the company a couple years ago and with the new owners I helped on the design side to make it their own. I truly love to help a small business realize their branding goals! 

This was the final project for the InDesign course. Our objective was to create a brochure but not the typical tri fold. Once I came up with an overall design idea, creating a mock yoga studio, a gate fold brochure seemed like a fun way to welcome potential patrons into the “doors” of the brochure and thus the studio. Defiantly pushed me creatively and helped hone my InDesign skillset. 

The assignment was to create an infographic about something we were passionate about. As, a mom and educator, teaching children mindfulness is something I’ve seen help my kids and those that I’ve worked with. Created in illustrator for the illustrator course. 

Typography is so fascinating to me, I could spend all day looking through fonts. This was the first project assigned for the typography course. We were given a font and the font's author to research and write a paper as well as a poster featuring the font and font details we learned.

I was given the font Futura created by Paul Renner. Not a font I was super familiar with, but thoroughly enjoyed learning more about this graphic artist and a font that has stood the test of time with its modern simplicity.
